Sunday, May 9 Mother's Day Tea

Mother’s Day Tea will be featuring The Ivy Wild Inn Catering. They will have fresh baked scones, muffins, chocolate dipped strawberries and bite sized desserts. Refreshments will include coffee, tea, ice-tea and strawberry lemonade. So bring Mom to an afternoon in the garden and enjoy a tea party on her special day. Tea time is 12:00pm-4:00pm. Mothers will receive a complimentary plant courtesy of Ohme Gardens. Additional plants will be on display for sale.

Turn your old discarded pots into beautiful planters. Grab'em, paint'em and plant'em at
Ohme Gardens HELP DAY. Ginger Spice, Mike Short and Bonnie Orr (the Dirt Diva) will be available to teach you the painting skills, provide plants for potting and give plant care advice for your new planters. Fees for this session are $30 per family, $15 per person or a $12 per person special for Season’s Pass holders.
Sunday, June 13 Tea in the Gardens

Enjoy a relaxing afternoon, lavishing in the secluded sunken lawn and admiring the brand-new cascading waterfall feature this summer at Ohme Gardens. Participants will enjoy superb tea and delicious treats provided by Ravenous Catering. “All Strings Considered” will be performing throughout the afternoon. There will be three separate seatings at 1:00pm, 2:00pm & 3:00pm. An award will be presented each hour for the most amazing hat, be sure to put on your Sunday best ladies! This is the 16th year of the funniest Shakespeare in the valley and the 3rd time at Ohme Gardens. This early Shakespeare comedy, filled with farce, philosophy, and silliness, features a king and his lords, a princess and her ladies-in-waiting, a fantastical Spaniard, a clown, a constable named Dull and Jaquenetta, a country wench. Ladies in masks and med disguised as Russians add to the confusion. Entertainment before the performance provided by the Nickle Shakespeare Actors, back by popular demand! Performance begins at 7pm. $3.00 admission. Come early to enjoy the Gardens before the play. Bring the whole family for a night laughs in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Cooking with grains

Not just for hippies and health food nuts anymore, come to the Ohme summer cooking series and learn about cooking with grains. Chef Richard Kitos will show you how simple these recipes can be, he will try to in grain them into your thoughts. He will be preparing Quinoa skillet bread, a wild rice, fresh corn and chipotle salad, Farro and crab cakes with a touch of melted brie cheese, Vietnamese style brown rice topped with spicy seared shrimp, and a curried apple and cous cous salad with a mélange of diced fresh summer vegetables from his garden. Please bring your favorite bottle of wine and enjoy learning to prepare and sample these wonderful summer dishes. Tomato or Tomato?
6:00 PM to 8:00 PM
Unsure of how to pronounce it, Chef Richard Kitos will just cook them instead. He will start by making tomato ketchup, for those of us who always have too may tomatoes in the garden. Next we will make a tomato gazpacho topped with a roasted garlic crouton and a seared wasabi flavored scallop. Next he will bake a tomato that has been stuffed with shrimp, spinach and crisp bacon, followed by a scalloped tomato and zucchini gratin. For dessert, we will make a fire seared tomato sorbet, one delicious dessert I am glad to have in my repertoire. Please bring your favorite bottle of win and enjoy learning to prepare and sample these wonderful summer dishes.
